Tip: What to do if someone spills red wine on your carpet
It’s one thing to not cry over spilled milk, but it’s an entirely different scenario to hold back tears when a full glass of red wine leaves its mark on your carpet. What can you do to remove red wine stains from your carpet? Mick Johnson, owner of Abbey Carpet & Floor in Tacoma has the following suggestion.
“Believe it or not, white wine can be your friend in this situation. White wine will help neutralize red wind and make it easier to lift the color off your carpet. Just pour the white wine over the stained area and gently blot the liquid up with a thick towel. Don’t rub the stain as that will force the stain into the carpet. Another useful beverage is club soda. Pour the soda on the stain and the carbonate will help lift the stain from the carpet fibers while the salt acts as a buffer to keep the stain from setting.” For more tips on carpet care and cleaning, go to Mick’s website.
