Parks’ Task Force Native Plant Salvaging Event:

On February 8th and 9th, the Parks’ Task Force after receiving permission from the developer, salvaged native plants from four lots in the Norberg Estates plat and transplanted them to Perkins Park and Farrell’s Marsh.  On February 12th, the Cedar Creek work crew harvested additional plants and relocated them to Farrell’s Marsh and Cherrydale Park.  Thank you to the volunteers who participated and to Rob Tillotson, the developer for Norberg Estates.

Streets and Storm:

The Crew assisted the Electric Crew on the Steilacoom Boulevard street light replacement; swept streets and cleared catch basins.

Steilacoom Boulevard Street Light:

The Crew assisted by the other crews and Amaya Electric replaced the street light on Steilacoom Boulevard near the library.  The prior street light was severely damaged in a car accident.  Due to its height, the pole had to be special ordered and specialized equipment needed to be used to install it.

Colbert Infrared System Study:

The annual electrical system infrared study performed by the Colbert Company is tentatively scheduled for March 12, 13, and 14th subject to Council approval of the contract.  This study helps identify potential system problem areas and allows the Town crews to proactively address those issues.

Water/Sewer:

Staff also the Electric Crew replacing the Steilacoom Boulevard street light and worked with the Electric Crew to install battery back-ups for the pole-mounted antennas (remote transmission units) associated with the upgraded, narrow-banded, SCADA system.

Parks and Grounds:

Bandstand Rebuild:

The Crew continued to focus on repairing the bandstand in Pioneer Park.  These repairs are necessary due to age and extensive and repeated vandalism. The crew also began our pre-spring equipment preparation/maintenance and applying moss-out to our parks.
