Steilacoom is Singing

| November 19, 2012

Outstanding music students from across Washington have received top honors by being selected to participate in the 2013 All State Honor Choir, in Portland, Oregon. These musicians were selected through auditions to participate in this prestigious event, which is sponsored by the Washington Music Educators Association. The finest student musicians in our state will rehearse, and perform in concert, under the direction of world-renowned conductors.

Many professional musicians credit their All-State experience as crucial in their decision to choose music as a career. Thousands of others whose career paths took them in other directions have great memories of participating in this inspiring and motivation musical event, and claim that it was a life-changing experience for them. Well known Washingtonians who have participated in the past years’ All State Honor groups include the Seattle Post Intelligencer’s Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist and columnist David Horsey, 2008 Teacher of the Year Andrea Peterson, and jazz saxophonist Kenny G.

Steilacoom School District choral director, Lauren Whitham is pleased to announce that eleven students will be representing the Steilacoom School District in All State Honor Choir this year! Congratulations to Jonathan Flores, Jeffrey Johnson, Hannah Norwood, Kei Bugay, Adalaide Brock, Sariah Crow, Keilee Daubon, Kylie Mageo, Laurianna Gonchar, Kyla Raygor, and Sachiel Santos-Ortiz.
