Pierce College to host free health screening, immunizations Nov. 3

The English as a Second Language program is hosting a free Health and Safety Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s Health Education Center, 9401 Farwest Dr. S.W., Lakewood. The event will feature free health screenings, including dental, blood pressure, body fat, vision, and blood sugar tests, and more than 30 health- and fitness-related informational booths. Free whooping cough immunizations will be offered by Sea Mar Community Health Centers.

Visitors will also have chances to win door prizes from Starbuck’s, Black Bear Yogurt, Mis Tres Amigos, and the Pierce College Bookstore.

Exhibitors include the Tacoma/Pierce County Health Department, Advanced Women’s Health, Pasado’s Safe Haven Animal Rescue, AARP, Korean Women’s Association, Safe Streets, United Way, and the Pierce College dental hygiene and health and physical education programs.

Pierce College considers community partnership and contribution to be an institutional outcome, one of the guiding principles of the college’s mission.
