Local author to speak and sign books at U.P. library

A local author will read from her compelling narrative during a free event at University Place Pierce County Library, 3609 Market Place W., on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m.

Author Julie Titone will talk about her book, “Boocoo Dinky Dow: My Short, Crazy Vietnam War,” which she co-authored with Grady Myers. The memoir recounts his military initiation at Fort Lewis, and describes the dangers as well as the camaraderie of serving in Vietnam.

Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Titone’s writing and photography have appeared in regional, national and international publications. She received a Kiplinger Fellowship in Public Affairs Journalism at Ohio State University, and a Ford Motor Co. Environmental Reporting Fellowship from the International Center for Journalists.

A former journalist in Boise, Idaho and Spokane, Wash., Titone serves as director of communications at the Washington State University College of Education.
