Lions to host ‘Horse’ Race for Sight

| March 25, 2009

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, the Lakewood First Lions Club host the White Cane Days “Horse” Race for Sight at the Great American Casino, 10117 South Tacoma Way & Hwy 512, Lakewood.

The $20 admission entitles all to a dinner entree (Fish or Chicken) and “Betting” Privileges.

Diane Formoso holds the event tickets and she requires reservations. There are only about 20 tickets available, so call (253.579.9777) ASAP to hold your seat.

It will be an evening filled with fun, laughter, betting and a great dinner. The wooden horses move on the track, at the throw of a die (dice). The bet will be $3 per race per horse, and if your horse wins, the Lions pay the winners. The track was donated by Lowe’s of Lakewood, hence the name of the race course is Lowe’s Downs. THANK YOU LOWE’S!

One half of the money raised will pay out to winners and the other half will go to the Sight and Hearing Foundation as the Lions contribution to White Cane Days for 2009.

I know that your organization collects used eye wear. I live in N.E. Tacoma. Please tell me where the closest drop sight is. I have several pair of glasses in various strengths that I wish to donate. Thank you, Cora Lewis, coraml@msn.com
