Lee, Dansby named Educators of the Month

Sandy Lee from Steilacoom Historical School District and Julie Dansby from Clover Park School District were named Educators of the Month at Lakewood Rotary‘s regular Friday meeting of November 2.  Accompanying the teachers were their principals, Gary Yoho, principal of Chloe Clark Elementary School and Ron Banner, principal of Mann Middle School.

Sandy Lee teaches third graders at Chloe Clark Elementary School. Her colleagues describe her as being:

  • Positive;
  • Friendly, and
  • Exceptionally professional.

Sandy has had a tremendous impact on Chloe Clark’s overall program.

She is co-chairing the Academic Improvement Team where it is her responsibility to seek out and help implement positive changes to academic programs to help better serve students.  In this role, she leads meetings and helps facilitate positive changes at Chloe Clark.

Julie Dansby from Mann Middle School obtained her bachelor’s degree from Hardin Simmons University in Texas and her master’s degree at The Evergreen State College.  She currently is an eighth grade pre-algebra and algebra teacher at Mann Middle School.

Julie’s colleagues describe her as:

  • always being a professional;
  • knowledgeable of subject matter;
  • a consistent communicator with parents; and
  • a true advocate for students and student learning.

Ron Banner says, “Julie Dansby is an extremely knowledgeable math teacher.  More important than that, she takes the time to ensure that her students get a quality lesson in mathematics each and every day.

This monthly award by Lakewood Rotary serves to demonstrate their’s and the community’s support and encouragement for our excellent teachers and the impact they have on their students.
