LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Kenworth Northwest broke ground on a new full-service dealership in Lakewood last week. Opening in early summer 2013, the new location along I-5 will provide the company the ability to better serve the needs of their customers.
Marshall Cymbaluk has positioned Kenworth Northwest to be a full-service truck dealership. The new sales and service center will be the company’s eighth, reaching from Lakewood to Fairbanks, Alaska. The organization employs 285 people throughout the region including 25 new jobs at the Lakewood location.
Kenworth Northwest selected the Lakewood area to honor customer requests for a South Sound facility. “Due to traffic congestion on I-5, we needed to be closer to our customer base so we can better service them,” said Cymbaluk. Currently, the closest Kenworth Northwest facility to the Tacoma area is in SeaTac, Wash.
“Kenworth Northwest is a tremendous addition to the Lakewood business community,” said Ellie Chambers-Grady, economic development director for the City of Lakewood. “Marshall has built a strong business and we are ready to support him as he continues to expand.”
The development project team includes Korsmo Construction and Innova Architects. The project was formally announced during a groundbreaking ceremony on November 9, 2012 at the site located at 12507 Pacific Highway SW in Lakewood. John Korsmo, president of Korsmo Construction was onsite along with the project team, the Cymbaluk family and local public officials.
According to Scott Ramsey, director of marketing for Korsmo Construction, the gold shovel celebration represents the start of an eight-month construction project.
