Delong’s Deluxe is fast, friendly and filling

| February 13, 2013

LAKEWOOD – I stopped in at Delong’s Deluxe (on the corner of Bridgeport Way and Steilacoom Blvd) for lunch on Wednesday. I wasn’t alone. The parking lot was packed.

The menu was easy enough to understand… an assortment of burgers, dogs, sides, shakes and sundaes, all at reasonable prices.

I ordered the Bleu Cheese Burger, fries and a root beer. The young lady who took my order was appropriately friendly without trying too hard.

The food was up in a few short minutes. Good thing, because it was cold out.

Once in my car, I unwrapped and dove into the burger. It had good flavor and wasn’t overdone. It also was the right size. Too many places make all their burgers monster size. Not this one.

Fries are another topic. Most people seem to have a hankering for one kind or another style of fry, but rarely both. I prefer thinner, crispier fries. Delong’s are thicker and softer (at least inside). They were tasty, but I’ll check out their onion rings next time.

Have any of you gone yet? What do you think of Lakewood’s newest burger joint.
