LAKEWOOD— Lakes High School ninth-grader, Sage Dixon Galbreath, has completed his Eagle Scout project at Idlewild Elementary School. Dixon Galbreath organized and completed a quarter-mile, four to five foot wide running and walking track around the Idlewild playfield, which was officially opened on June 18. The track provides an all-season path for students and the community to run and walk on.

For the past 11 years, Idlewild Elementary School (10806 Idlewild Rd. SW) has hosted an all day event called Science Fantastic! This year the event will be Friday, May 7 from 8:10 am-1:15 pm. Featured are 25 different science experiences from which our elementary students select an exploration of interest to them. They are free to move from station to station and explore hypothesis presented at a variety of levels by classroom teachers.

CPSD principal selections announced

Lakewood, WA — Clover Park School District superintendent Debbie LeBeau recently announced the selection of three principals to fill vacancies at Idlewild and Hillside Elementary Schools and Lakeview Hope Academy. The principals will begin their assignments July 1, 2010, pending board approval on April 19.

Idlewild Elementary School students show off their award-winning team t-shirts.

Nearly every elementary school in Clover Park School District participated in the annual Math Relay June 5 at Franklin Pierce High School. Schools formed teams pairing mathematical skills with athletic ability to maneuver through an obstacle course of jumping jacks, flash cards, jump roping and running.

More than 80 teams from Pierce and Thurston Counties competed in this year’s Relay. Idlewild Elementary School took home the “Coolest T-Shirt” Award.

Clover Park School District’s (CPSD) Idlewild Elementary School will once again offer a tuition-based full-day kindergarten class. Tuition will start at $290 a month and will reduce on a sliding scale based on free and reduced lunch eligibility.

The full-day class is limited to 21 students—14 at full price, two at $240 a month and five at $190 a month. A second full-day class may be added if there is enough interest. There is also a $35 non-refundable registration fee for all registered students.
