The January snow and ice storm left plenty of trees, branches, and other debris in its wake. In order to help expedite the community clean up, U.P. Refuse has agreed to allow residents to dump large storm debris (yard waste items) at a reduced rate of $5 per yard. See below for additional information on how to dispose of storm debris in your yard.

Curbside Yard Waste Toters – the best and easiest option is to collect wood debris, such as fallen branches, and cut them to fit inside your curbside yard waste toters, which will be picked up according to the regular schedule.

Large Debris – If the debris collected is too large or heavy to fit in the curbside toter, residents can take the debris to one of the following locations:

Somebody made a mistake and dropped the Muse in Venice, California, in 1980, where they collided with “Starlight Express!”

Tacoma Musical Playhouse’s Director/Choreographer Jon Douglas Rake confesses that “Xanadu” is “a Dumb…Stupid… show!” But, it’s SO entertaining!

In a nutshell, this unbelievably campy musical is about a sidewalk artist who isn’t satisfied with his mural of the Greek Muse so he figures he’ll commit suicide. The youngest muse, Clio decides to help him. However, she must disguise herself or break Daddy Zeus’ rules of not revealing herself to a mortal. So, she changes her name to “Kira” and puts on a pair of roller skates, leg warmers and an Australian accent. Sonny, our hero, is instantly inspired and plans to ask location owner, Danny, to donate the old, never opened Xanadu Movie Theater to him to use as a roller disco!

“This bill holds accountable those who prey on our service members,” Kelley said.

The bill (HB 2548) would add the deployment factor to the current list of aggravating circumstances that allow judges to exceed sentencing guidelines when imposing punishment on convicted criminals. That list now includes such circumstances as cruelty, crimes against vulnerable or homeless victims, sex crimes or repeated abuse of a victim.

The Happy Hearts Dinner Auction is just around the corner. February 11th at the McGavick Center at Clover Park Technical College at 5:00 P.M. we will be holding our annual fundraiser to help kids in need in our community. Remember we are an all volunteer organization, so all the money we raise goes directly to help the kids, as we work through our local schools and organizations. We provide school supplies, clothing, hygiene products, food, books and ready to learn materials. In addition we also collaborate with the Methodist Church Friday Dinners, the Fish Food Bank and the Food Connection Food Truck in Springbrook. The tickets are only $35.00 and we want to fill the McGavick Center with 500 people! So email us at carekids@comcast.net, call 253-279-9777 or send a check to 237 Eldorado Ave., Fircrest, WA 98466 and we will get the tickets out to you immediately. This is our major fundraiser so please help us! Auction donations are welcome. Website carekids.org
