Airport Advisory Commission applicants sought
Posted by | CommentsThe Thun Field Advisory Commission is seeking applicants to fill one position to represent South Hill residents on the commission. The commission meets bi-monthly to review issues related to the Pierce County Thun Field airport and other properties within 1,000 feet of the airport.
The unpaid positions require applicants to be current South Hill residents. The term expires April 12, 2016.

Muri to run in new 10th district
Posted by | CommentsSteilacoom, WA -- 10th Congressional District candidate Dick Muri welcomed the news that the Washington State Redistricting Commission has drawn the new congressional district map, placing him at the heart of the Pierce County centered 10th district.
Dick Muri said, "The proposed map is good news for my campaign for the United States House of Representatives. I am looking forward to challenging an entrenched insider like Denny Heck, in a district that knows me and my record of leadership in local government."

Posted by | CommentsTo bring customers improved service, Parkland/Spanaway Pierce County Library, located at 13718 Pacific Ave. S., in Tacoma, will be closed Monday, Dec. 5 – Sunday, Dec. 18.
During the closure workers will install one central customer service desk. From this help desk, library staff will answer people's questions and help them find books and other materials. The library will add another movie tower, to give customers more choices for movies and keep up with the public’s growing demands for new releases.

Fantasy Lights opens November 24
Posted by | CommentsIn its 17th year, Fantasy Lights has dazzled viewers with new themes and yearly additions to the largest drive-through display of lights in the Northwest. Fantasy Lights operates for 39 nights, November 24-January 1, 2012, nightly from 5:30-9:00pm. The beautiful two and a quarter mile drive takes place in Spanaway County Park, 14905 Gus G Bresemann Blvd., just west of 152nd/Military Road and SR 7 (Pacific Ave) in Spanaway, WA. The fee per car is $13; $28 for a mini bus (16-24 passenger); and $45 per bus (25+ passengers). The election isn't over yet
Posted by | CommentsHere are the most recent set of statewide and countywide measure results for the November 08, 2011 General Election as last reported by the Pierce County Auditor's Office. The report was issued 11/15/2011 at 4:12 p.m. and showed a voter turnout of 49.25%. The Auditor's Office only has approximately 75 ballots on hand left to count and the next count is scheduled for tomorrow at 4 p.m. The election will be certified November 29.
