Letter: Soccer club looking for tournament sponsors
Posted by | CommentsThe Lakewood-Steilacoom-Dupont Soccer Club (LSDSC) will host its 5th annual Fort Steilacoom Cup 5v5 tournament on August 7th and 8th at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. The 5v5 format is a wonderful opportunity for players to get more touches on the ball as there are only 4 players on the field at a time. Due to the short games, it is also a great opportunity for coaches to interact with their players and do a lot of teaching between matches. The 5v5 format is unique in these ways and this is the only tournament of its kind in Western Washington. This event draws youth teams from across the state and has been a huge success for us in the past. Participation in this event grows each year. For 2010 we expect more than 50 teams in the tournament and more than 1,000 guests over the course of the weekend. Given the success of previous tournaments, we are now comfortable in offering sponsorship opportunities.

Posted by | CommentsI forgot to bring a lunch to work today, so I ran downstairs to Vive Bene for a cup of their Wedding Soup. Well… the chef who waited on me encouraged me try their Chicken and Leek soup. In a word: Fantastic. Walked out with a bowl-to-go. Vive Bene is in the Clover Park Shops (11126 Gravelly Lake Dr SW, 253-588-8989).

40th Annual Sportsman’s Dinner & Auction
Posted by | CommentsIt started out 40 years ago as a wild game dinner with members of the Rotary Club of Lakewood preparing wild game they had caught during the previous year and getting together for an evening of fun, frivolity and some raffles and door prizes.
Over the years the event has morphed into one of Lakewood’s major community activities attracting more than 400 individuals for an evening that includes wild game, a silent and oral auction and resulting in a major fundraiser that has helped the 125-member club to raise and distribute approximately 2 million dollars to local community organizations, schools, YMCA, Boys & Girls Club and much, much more.
The 40th annual Lakewood Rotary Club Sportsman’s Dinner & Auction is slated for March 20 at the McGavick Center at Clover Park Technical College. The doors open at 5 pm. Read More→
