Boettner named All Washington Scholar
Clover Park Technical College’s 2009 All Washington Scholar is Ms. Nicole Boettner. Boettner was honored recently by Governor Gregoire and the state’s two-year college presidents in Olympia.
Boettner is currently a student in the Environmental Science and Technology Program, where she maintains a 4.0 GPA. She also belongs to Phi Theta Kappa – the honor society for two year colleges — and the Environmental Science Club, where she has been instrumental in starting a recycling program on campus. According to her instructors, Kathryn Smith and Andrew Fritz, Boettner is viewed as a mentor to her fellow students, because of her academic and leadership abilities.
“I know that Nicole will be as successful at the four-year level, as she has shown great leadership abilities while a student at Clover Park Technical College. I look forward to watching the contributions that she will make in the field of environmental science,” said Andrew Fritz, Environmental Science and Technology instructor.
“Nicole is an excellent example of the outstanding contributions that our students make in the community and at our college while simultaneously excelling in the classroom… our college is very proud of Nicole,” said Dr. John Walstrum, Clover Park Technical College President.
Nicole plans on continuing her studies after receiving her associate’s degree at Clover Park Technical College and attaining her bachelor’s degree.

Maybe the best part of Nicole’s success is that while excelling at Clover Park Technical College she has excelled as a Mother and fierce protector of her two young sons. And, to the best of my knowledge, has accomplished all of this on her own! Truly extraordinary!! Congratulations, Nicole!
