3rd Annual Fallen Officers Food Drive kicks off Nov. 29
The Lakewood Police Department will be kicking off the 3rd Annual Fallen Officers Food Drive on November 29th, 2012. An opening ceremony will be held at the Lakewood Police Station located at 9401 Lakewood Drive Southwest.
Lakewood City Mayor Doug Richardson will open the event at 8:00 AM and will be joined by Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist, Governor-Elect Jay Inslee, and First Gentleman Mike Gregoire. Chief Farrar will have closing remarks.
The food drive will begin at the Lakewood Police Station following the ceremony. Volunteers, JBLM soldiers and police employees will be on hand to accept food or cash donations. The Seattle Police Pipe and Drum band will also be performing at the event.
Donations will also be accepted at the Emergency Food Network’s website (www.efoodnet.org) and the public can text the word “Hunger” to 85944 and a $10 donation will be billed to their cell phone provider. This can be done up to five times a day.
