As part of an on-going research project about the 50th anniversary of Century 21—also known as the Seattle World’s Fair—the following item was published in the Feb. 20, 1962 editorial by Lakewood Log/Suburban Times Publisher John Fournier:
“Millions of Americans and people all around the globe joined Col. John Glenn in speeding into history on Feb. 20, for a historic day in the U.S. and the world. We feel deep pride in the achievement.”

Microfilm copies of past editions of Lakewood papers can be accessed at the Lakewood Library. The Northwest Room at Tacoma Public Library is also a regional repository of Northwest history.
