Learning Is ForEver class Easter Island: Mystery of the Monoliths
Posted on February 5, 2012Picture an eight year old sitting on a platform of scrap lumber in his backyard, imagining himself aboard the Kon-Tiki with explorer Thor Heyerdahl. That young boy was Donald Ryan. His reading of Kon-Tiki led him to the study of Polynesian cultures. Ryan will present the theories behind the monoliths on the island and the culture of the people who might have inhabited the island.
Dr. Ryan earned a B.A. from P.L.U, a M.A. from U.W. and received his PhD from The Union Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Ryan went on to work with Heyerdahl on a research grant from 1995- 2002. His most recent book, Beneath the Sands of Egypt was published in July 2010.
