Denny Heck Named One of the Top Democratic Candidates in the Nation
Posted on January 18, 2012Earlier today the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the organization charged with electing Democrats to the United States House of Representatives, named Denny Heck one of the first members of the Red-to-Blue Program.
The DCCC’s Red-to-Blue Program highlights top Democratic campaigns across the country, and offers them financial, communications, grassroots, and strategic support. Candidates for the program are chosen based on proven success at meeting and surpassing fundraising, organizing, and infrastructure goals and skillfully demonstrating to voters that they are problem-solvers who will protect the middle class when elected to Congress.
"Denny Heck is a strong advocate for the middle class. In Congress, Denny will stand up for working families and provide independent leadership for this new district instead of being just another vote for the extreme Republican agenda that puts millionaires first and ends Medicare for Washington seniors," said Congressman Steve Israel, Chairman of the DCCC.
Heck is running in the newly created 10th Congressional District. The 10th is a Democratic district that gave President Obama 58% of the major party vote in 2008.
Denny Heck, 59, is an entrepreneur, former State Representative and co-founder of TVW, a statewide public affairs TV channel in Washington State. Denny attended and graduated from The Evergreen State College in 1973 and has lived in Olympia for the past 26 years with his wife Paula and their two children, Bob and Trey. Denny and Paula, a retired middle school principal, have been married 36 years.
