Marie Jean (Kerr) Brown
Marie Jean (Kerr) Brown Marie was born and raised in Tacoma, WA and resided in Kitsap County with her family. She passed away suddenly in San Diego, CA on Dec. 6, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Marie was a youthful, energetic, beautiful 59-year old woman. She was a faithful servant to God and radiated her love of him to others. Marie's passions were spending time with family and friends, traveling, and spoiling her two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Steven G. Brown, and her four children, Natalie, Michelle, Troy, and John, along with her extended family members and many friends. Her smiles and gentleness will always be missed. Services will be held at 2:00 TODAY, Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in the Mountain View Valley Chapel, followed by a reception at Charles Wright Academy in University Place. Kevin Bruce Hirschy
Kevin Bruce Hirschy Born April 21, 1954, passed away December 7, 2011 surrounded by his family. Kevin was born in Tacoma and lived in University Place and Day Island his whole life and graduated from Curtis High School in 1972. He was an electrician and a master at making Koompa. He was affectionately referred to as "Koompaman" and started the annual Koompa feed at the Day Island Club House. Kevin was very proud of his Norwegian heritage. One of the other passions enjoyed by Kevin was pyrotechnics. He was responsible for many amazing firework shows on Day Island and at Cheney Stadium. He is survived by his mother Joyce "Toni", sister Lynne (Dwaine), son Joshua, daughter Talia (Phil), nephews Dennis and Chris, and furry friend Zoey. Kevin was preceded in death by his father Bruce Hirschy, October 1, 2008. A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 1-9pm at Mountain View Funeral Home. Dorothy M. Klein July 29, 1920 to Dec. 7, 2011 Dorothy passed away on Dec. 7, 2011 after a short illness in the hospital. She was born in Ritzville, WA. She moved to Tacoma as a child and went to school in Tacoma. She was married to David Klein, who passed away in Jan. 2002. She is survived by her son-in-law Larry Weisser, and by grandchildren Barbara Weisser and Bob Weisser. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ, 602 N Orchard St., Tacoma, followed by a reception. Arline E. Carder
Arline E. Carder Died at 94 on December 7, 2011 in Puyallup, WA. Born on November 10, 1917 in Guttenberg, IA to Raymond and Alma Harvey, Arline moved west with her family to Stanford, MT, then Portland, OR, where she graduated from Franklin HS. There she married Jack F. Ryan and started a family, Dick and Terry. Then moved to Tillamook, OR and a third son, Jim. From there the family moved to Lakewood, WA, where Mom worked at Penny Wise Drug Store in South Tacoma and J C Penny in Lakewood. Following the divorce from Jack Ryan, Arline married Hiram Carder and lived in the Harvey family house in Lakewood till near the end of her life. Arline worked at Fantasy Land, the Tacoma Dome, King Dome for Seahawks and Mariners games, and the Mariners at Safeco Field where she retired at 85. Arline was a member of Lewis Chapter Eastern Star (past Matron), Daughters of the Nile (Chorus), Ladies' Oriental Shrine (Clowns), and St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Arline was preceded in death by her parents Raymond C. and Alma W. Harvey, brother Raymond S. Harvey, husband Jack F. Ryan, and husband Hiram (Pete) S. Carder. Arline is survived by her three loving sons, Richard J. (Anita) Ryan, Terry S. (Nelda) Ryan, and James R. (Lori) Ryan; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499, followed by a reception in the Oak Room.
