Hey Marseilles to play at Johnson Farm

Posted on August 4, 2011

Hey Marseilles will play a concert on Saturday, August 6 (6 pm) at Johnson Farm on Anderson Island. For a bit of history of the local band, read on.

The band began in 2006 when Nick Ward and Matt Bishop were students at the University of Washington. Ward's roommate Philip Kobernik joined them and the three used to jam at Gasworks Park in the summer and they eventually made a few songs and started adding members. Hey Marseilles now numbers seven members, with the instruments in the mix outnumbering the players.

Hey Marseilles released their first album, To Travels & Trunks, in 2008. It was ranked one of the best Northwest albums of the year.

On September 5, 2009, Hey Marseilles was the opening act at the Bumbershoot Music Lounge in Bumbershoot. They also played at the Broad Street Stage. They have been traveling extensively, and will be playing in Benaroya Hall during the 2011 concert season.

Bring your own blankets or deck chairs, snacks, etc., and enjoy the music!
