Students honor ninth anniversary of Sept. 11 attacks
Posted on September 14, 2010Moments of silence, hand-drawn American flags, singing and music—these are just some of the ways in which district students and staff honored the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
Evergreen Elementary School fifth-graders were invited to attend Madigan Army Medical Center's Sept. 11 tribute. Participants formed a human friendship chain around the hospital's pond.
Students bow their head in a moment of silence led by Army Col. Jerome Penner, commander of Madigan Army Medical Center.
Beachwood Elementary School held its annual Sept. 11 tribute, which featured an introduction by Principal Josh Zarling, (center) the singing of "America the Beautiful" and a moment of silence.
Beachwood students colored American flags that they proudly carried throughout the tribute.
