Nancy Forgerson hired a contractor to remodel her house. He did about half the work and then disappeared leaving the house unsafe. That was several years ago. Enter the ANEW program led by instructor Jim Jones. ANEW, or apprenticeship for non-traditional employment for women, took on Forgerson's home via local program, Project Rebuild South Sound.

Project Rebuild South Sound seeks out contractors to volunteer their time and materials to repair homes owned by the elderly and those on a fixed income. Jones and his students performed a “blitz” on the house and accomplished a majority of the unfinished work.

The impression the students left with the homeowner, Nancy Forgerson, was priceless. “The students and their instructor were professional, courteous, and enthusiastic about their work,” said Forgerson.

Nancy Forgerson’s daughter, Jennifer Justice, is a student in the Environmental Sciences & Technology program at Clover Park Technical College, where the ANEW program is housed. She is also ASG President. “As a fellow Clover Park Technical College student, I am honored to be associated with such high quality people.”
