Ride to honor our veterans

On Saturday, a small but enthusiastic group of motorcycle riders hit the road to honor our veterans who have passed away over the past year. Leaving Tacoma Elks #174 at 10 am, the 13 riders went to Gig Harbor, Shelton, McKenna, Orting and Puyallup. Along the way, they played a different game at each stop, trying to get the most points for a top prize.
Lunch was served in Shelton by the Shelton Elks Lodge #2467 which put on a fine lunch. After the Puyallup stop, everyone headed back to Tacoma where the Elks lodge put on a spaghetti feed for everyone. Thanks to the volunteers, everyone made it back safely.
All the monies raised for this run will go to the Tacoma Elks Veterans Committee who supports the Ft. Lewis Warrior Transition Battalion and the veterans at American Lake.
Plans are already underway to honor our veterans next year on August 27, 2011. The Tacoma Elks are looking to have more riders next year.

I was one of the volunteers and want to thank those who participated. The weather was beautiful and the riders had fun. Look for Tacoma Elks to sponsor another run in 2011 and join us for a good cause. Thanks, Suburban Times, for your two articles, before and after, the event.
