Lakewood International Festival set for Saturday
Posted on August 26, 2010Lakewood Sister Cities Association\ (LSCA) will present its 11th Annual Lakewood International Festival, on Saturday, August 28th in the Sharon McGavick Student Conference Center at Clover Park Technical College, 4500 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, Washington. This year’s festival begins at 11:00 a.m. and is free to the public.
Featured talents include The Pilipino-American Youth Organization (PAYO), BT Rhythm, Congo Productions, Keepers of the Faith, OKK Taiko, Sokoyoku Koyakai, Urvasi, Andrew Evans and many more, representing all parts of the globe until approximately 4:00 p.m. There will also be a kid’s area, food and market vendors, and raffle prizes including the grand prize of five nights in Las Vegas with $750 for airfare/expenses and a second prize of $350 Safeway gift card. LSCA is also happy to include the ACS Health Van which will provide complimentary body fat analysis, blood pressure checks, health age analysis, glucose and cholesterol checks to attendees.
The festival celebrates Lakewood’s rich cultural diversity and its Sister City relationships: Sister City with Okinawa, Japan and Bauang, Philippines and Friendship City with Gimhae, Korea and Danzhou, China. This year’s highlighted city is Bauang, Philippines.
The international festival is the organization’s major annual activity and key fund raising event. Funds raised through the festival support such annual activities as student and business exchanges between Lakewood and its Sister Cities. The mission of the LSCA is to promote international harmony through people-to-people diplomacy for meaningful cultural, educational, tourism and trade exchanges.
