Posted on August 25, 2010

Confirmed as panelists for our September 2nd neighborhood meeting are all state legislative representatives and challengers for our 28th District; two members of the Lakewood City Council; Assistant City Manager Dave Bugher; and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Invitations were extended to the Washington Military Department; Congressman Adam Smith's office; Pierce County Councilman Dick Muri; and the National Guard at Camp Murray.

One-thousand newsletters will be distributed to every home and business in Tillicum and into Woodbrook as well, with an additional email to our database of nearly 400 which includes the media.

The entire evening of our regularly-scheduled first-Thursday-of-the-month Tillicum Woodbrook Neighborhood Association (TWNA) meeting will be dedicated to this issue. Panelists will each have opportunity to introduce themselves and express their position in a two-minute opening statement followed by written questions posed by the moderator. A one-minute closing by each member of the panel will end the evening at 8:30 p.m.

A 15-member subcommittee of the TWNA has been formed of community leaders who have compiled materials and will submit questions to the panel by way of the moderator. Additional written questions will be entertained from the audience during the course of the evening. There will be no break for refreshments but rather these will be available at each table.

While Paul Wagemann, Tami Green, Steve O'Ban and Troy Kelley are all up for re-election, all have been informed that this is not a candidate forum but a matter of concern to their constitutents who are seeking representation. Packets of material gathered to-date will be sent in advance of the meeting to all panelists and will be available by email to the general public by sending a request to billsboathouse@qwestoffice.net, c/o David Anderson, TWNA President.

Links to articles and letters to the editor that have appeared in the Tacoma News Tribune and other related documents can be found at www.MeetTheNeighbors.org.

The TWNA meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and is held at the Tillicum Community Center, 14916 Washington Ave. SW, Lakewood.
