Posted on August 24, 2010Pierce College Puyallup and the Pierce College Military Program at Joint-Base Lewis McChord have been ranked among the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide for active duty military personnel, veterans, and military families, according to the 2011 Military Friendly Schools list released by G.I. The Military Friendly Schools list is based on a poll of 7,000 schools nationwide. Consideration was given to colleges that offered the greatest opportunity, flexibility and overall experience for veterans and active-duty personnel. Also considered was the availability of on-campus veterans programs, credit for service, and programs for military spouses.
Pierce College’s Military Program serves about 3,500 students per term. Students from all over the world attend classes online or at the two education centers at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
In addition to the G.I. Jobs distinction, Pierce College was recognized by Military Times Edge magazine as one of the 50 Most Popular Colleges in its June/July issue. Pierce was ranked 14th out of the top 50, which is based on where active-duty military use their tuition assistance benefits. The data used in the ranking was provided by the Air Force, Army, Army National Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
