PR: First responders get free 1-day admission to U.S. Amateur
Posted by · July 29, 2010Thanks to the support of Regence Blue Shield of Washington, the 2010 U.S. Amateur is pleased to announce that Wednesday, Aug. 25, will be First Responders Day at the national golf championship.
All active-duty and retired commissioned law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS providers and 911 dispatchers will receive complimentary admission to the U.S. Amateur on Aug. 25. The championship will be held Aug. 23-29 at Chambers Bay in University Place.
“This is a great way to show our appreciation for the men and women who work so hard to protect us and keep our communities safe,” said Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy, who oversees operations at the county-owned Chambers Bay Golf Course. “I am thankful to Regence Blue Shield for offering the community support to make this gesture possible.”
“Regence is proud to have been part of the Pierce County community for the past 40 years,” added Regence President Jonathan Hensley, “and we are happy to have the opportunity to recognize the first responders who are on the job every day working to ensure the welfare of everyone who lives and works in this area. We thank them for their courage and dedication.”
To receive the complimentary admission on Aug. 25, eligible personnel must present their official department ID or badge at the admissions tent. As a reminder, youth 17 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult.
Conducted by the United States Golf Association, the U.S. Amateur is the nation’s oldest golf championship and has been won by some of the most famous names in the sport. The championship will be televised by The Golf Channel and NBC. Weekly passes are available for $65, while single day tickets are $25.
