PR: Celebrate Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week
Posted on July 20, 2010Pierce County District Court Presiding Judge Margaret V. Ross signed a proclamation declaring the week of July 18 as Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week. This week is a time to recognize and celebrate the dedicated and caring individuals in the community who work tirelessly to make neighborhoods safer and more vibrant places to live and rear families. These professionals serve to assist juvenile and adult offenders in becoming better citizens with productive lives. Here are just 10 of the ways they accomplish these goals:
10. Promote services and programs that meet the needs and interests of Pierce County District Court and the community.
9. Promote an integrated, comprehensive approach to dealing with the pervasive problem of substance abuse.
8. Provide services and programs that provide opportunities for offenders to become law-abiding citizens.
7. Offer choices and enforce consequences.
6. District Court Probation professionals are caring people.
5. Promote community protection through proactive, problem-solving work practices plus interventions aimed at changing criminal and/or delinquent behavior.
4. Are dedicated, hard-working individuals who are truly concerned about making a difference in the community where they live.
3. Provide core services such as investigations, victim advocacy, community supervision, immediate response to violations and treatment services; all which provide optimum public protection.
2. Are dedicated to help make Pierce County safe.
1. Probation professionals supervise over five million adults and over 670,000 juveniles in our communities.
