Tacoma Rainiers go to bat for emergency preparedness
Posted on July 18, 2010Have you ever gone to a Tacoma Rainiers game at Cheney Stadium? If you have, you know what a great place it is and how much fun a ball game can be. This is an event the entire family can enjoy. Now is your chance to attend a game, help raise money and support Citizen Corps of Pierce County in the process.
The Rainiers have teamed up with Citizen Corps of Pierce County to host Emergency Preparedness Night at Cheney Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. For a $12 ticket, you get a great seat, a game program, and a ballpark meal. Buy your tickets early for the best seats! Our sales goal is to sell 400 tickets by July 22.
While the Rainiers battle the Sacramento River Rats, they will also support Citizen Corps and our community with public service announcements on emergency preparedness during the game. The group or organization with the most people will get special recognition at the game.
Can’t attend, but want to support Citizens Corps Council? Donations are welcome also.
Citizen Corps Council of Pierce County (CCC) brings together nonprofits, non-governmental and faith-based organizations to help our neighbors in times of disasters. Working along-side Pierce County Emergency Management and other governmental agencies, the CCC helps coordinate activities - from getting volunteers for sandbagging and shoveling out mud from flooded homes to helping people get back on their feet after a disaster.
This is the first annual fundraising event for Citizen Corps and a member will get to throw out the opening pitch. Citizen Corps will also staff an emergency preparedness table with free information for the public.
Early ticket sales are very important. For information on how to purchase your tickets, contact Colleen Adler.
