New administrators approved by CPSD Board of Directors

LAKEWOOD- The Clover Park School District (CPSD) Board of Directors approved the hiring of two administrators to fill vacancies in the district during the July 12 regular board meeting. The district welcomes Kristy Harris as the new director of financial services and Katie O'Brien as a new assistant principal at Lakes High School. The board also approved other new hires for the district as part of the monthly personnel actions listing.

Kristy Harris comes to CPSD after working for Microsoft since 1999 in a variety of leadership roles including senior general ledger accountant, tax analyst, senior finance manager for Microsoft IT and division chief of staff for the Microsoft IT division. Harris has a passion for excellence and her strengths are in project leadership and management, policies and procedures and financial management. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from New England College in New Hampshire. Harris replaces Lynn Wilson who accepted a position as the director of information technology services.

Katie O’Brien is Lakes’ choice for assistant principal. Most recently O’Brien was an education consultant for Ignite for Schools, Inc., where she created and led student mentor and leadership teams and facilitated national executive mentor camps and inter-highs across the US. O’Brien has worked in Federal Way School District as a classroom teacher, dean of students, coordinator for Cambridge International Exams and ASB advisor. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Eastern Washington University, a master’s degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and her administrative credentials at Seattle Pacific University. O’Brien replaces Karen Mauer-Smith who was promoted to principal at Lakes High School.
