Steilacoom town wide garage sale set for Aug. 14

Posted on July 13, 2010

Mark your calendar for August 14, 2010 for the Annual Steilacoom Town Wide Garage Sale. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day. Dig out those treasures hidden away in your attics, basements, closets, and garages. Rent a space on the Tennis Court for $10. (Sign up early since the court fills up fast) If you have too many items to bring to the Tennis Court, register with the Chamber of Commerce for only $10 and hold the sale at your residence within the town. Your address will be included on a map which will be distributed to bargain seekers the day of the sale. You also can sign up online at www.steilacoom.org or pick up an application at:

  • The Steilacoom Marine & Spirits at 1310 Commercial St,
  • Key Bank at 1615 Lafayette St.
  • or at the Steilacoom Barber Shop (next to the bank) Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, Aug. 11.

This is a fundraiser for scholarships for students in our area, and we encourage everyone to sign up. We distribute garage sale signs (two per house) so people know that you are participating. We also do all the advertising, so please help us make this event a success by signing up in advance.

For more information, please contact Patti Young at 253-582-0900 or Email her at (Garage Sale in the Subject line, please) www.steilacoom.org. Space is limited at the tennis courts so reserve your space today.

We also will be selling coffee/lemonade/water/donuts and popcorn throughout the day. Alll proceeds from the sale of the beverages and food will be donated to SHEF in Mike’s name.

Mike Dunsmore was a community supporter and leader, as well as a military leader. He volunteered for many organizations and was a big supporter of the garage sale and SHEF which awards scholarships to young people in our community.

Mike passed away earlier this year. He coordinated this event for the past 10 years until his health began to decline. Three years ago Patti Young and Bill Enold took over coordinating the event.

It was an honor working with Mike, and we will miss him. Please stop by and purchase some treats, or make a donation.
