CISL

Communities In Schools of Lakewood (CISL) is the local affiliate of the nation's largest drop out prevention program. We have been located in Lakewood since 1993 and have seen the graduation rate increase from 40% to 70%. We are now looking for your help.

Beginning in the Fall of 2010, CISL will (grant pending) begin a large scale program at Tillicum Elementary. This will include additional academic support after school as well as enrichment activities and recreational games and team-building activity. This program will include roughly 75 students and will run 5 days a week after school.

What we are currently looking for are companies or organizations who can provide 2 hours of unique programming for the students twice a month for one month (or longer). Every other Wednesday is a half-day in the Clover Park School District and on these days we want to offer opportunities children at Tillicum Elementary do not usually have the chance to experience. Some ideas are painting, music, gardening, culinary arts, dance, photography, organized team sports, crafts etc...

CISL will provide a handful of volunteers and staff members, but ideally this would not be a program run by one person, but a team of people. ALL volunteers will be fully background checked and interviewed. Also, there is the option of doing stations so that no more than 25 students are at each station.

PLEASE contact me if you are interested. The children of Tillicum will benefit greatly from your partnership. Like you, CISL believes ALL students can succeed - and that success is built on the foundation of a community that cares!

Thank you,

Christina Klas
