Kiwanis Scholarship and recognition awards
Posted on June 10, 2010The Clover Park Kiwanis Club hosted their Annual Awards Luncheon, June 8 at the Clover Park Technical College Rotunda Room. Graduating seniors from Clover Park and Lakes were recognized for their achievement in scholarship, art, instrumental and vocal music, and sportsmanship.
Michael Okoro from Clover Park, was awarded the $1,000 Rex Kelly Scholarship. Michael was also received the Male Sportsmanship award. Four other Clover Park graduates also received scholarships or awards. Anthony Lee was awarded the $1,000 Ken Storaasli Key Club Scholarship and the Instrumental Music award. Johnathan Wier received the award for Arts. Shakela Fortson was awarded a $500 Kiwanis Scholarship and was also the Female Sportsmanship award recipient. Brian Rodenbeck, senior counselor, introduced the Clover Park seniors receiving these honors.
Lakes principal, Brian Laubach, introduced the seniors from Lakes being recognized for their accomplishments. Caleb Dixon Galbreath received the $1,000 William Dour Scholarship and the Vocal Music award. Margaret Manalo received the $500 Kiwanis Scholarship. Kaytlynn Smith was recognized for her achievement in art. The Instrumental Music award was presented to Zachary Hyneman. Tusalava Kuaea and Jamal Kearse were the winners of the Sportsmanship Award.
Clover Park Kiwanis’s member, Mike Anderson, was the chairperson for the 2010 Scholarship and Recognition Awards Luncheon.
