Letter: First letter winner from Harrison Prep
Posted on June 6, 2010I have appreciated seeing news articles featuring the United Way Varsity Letter in Community Service Program (here and here). Two of my sons earned this distinction this year. Micah (Junior) got his second letter via Steilacoom High School, and Noah (Freshman) got his first. Noah is also the very first varsity letter winner of any type for Harrison Prep. Noah volunteered over 250 hours to earn the Varsity Letter - mostly working with younger children at the YMCA and his church. His 250 hours also brought a Gold level Presidential Service Award from President Obama.
Your two artcles have included photos of the Steilacoom and Clover Park School District letter winners - minus a photo of Noah (left). Thanks for highlighting these great young people, who have grasped early in life the tremendous value of giving time and talents to benefit others.
