Employees of the year selected for CPSD
Posted on May 11, 2010LAKEWOOD—Three employees from Clover Park School District (CPSD) have been chosen as Employees of the Year. Since 1987, CPSD has honored exemplary employees in three categories: certificated, classified and administrative. Award recipients are chosen by an independent panel of Lakewood citizens. Recipients for the 2010 CPSD Employee of the Year are: Meghan Eakin, Certificated Employee of the Year; Joseph Doane, Classified Employee of the Year; and Lisa Boyd, Administrative Employee of the Year.
Certificated Employee of the Year: Meghan Eakin, Classroom Coach, Beachwood Elementary
Meghan’s colleagues describe her as an exceptional classroom coach. She understands instructional practice and demonstrates and articulates it in a way that empowers teachers to continually improve their own practice. Meghan has focused on establishing a culture of learning and helping teachers improve their practice. She has helped to change the culture of Beachwood Elementary from a culture of work to a culture of learning. While everyday is a challenge to convince, coach and/or help bring change through large scale implementation and/or daily implementation, Meghan does so with great passion of learning, where kids come first.
Classified Employee of the Year: Joseph Doane, Mechanic, Transportation Department
Joseph’s responsibility within the Transportation Department is to maintain 270 district vehicles and equipment. During the past five years, Joseph has received a perfect inspection rating during both the annual full inspection of all district vehicles held during the summer, as well as the 25 percent inspection performed during winter break. This is quite an accomplishment since Joseph is the only mechanic assigned to the transportation department’s motor pool fleet. Joseph performs his tasks with a skill-set that is above and beyond the norm, while keeping his costs under budget.
Administrative Employee of the Year: Lisa Boyd, Principal, Harrison Prep
Lisa’s staff says that she has a very compassionate heart. She has an outstanding way of treating students and staff and can always make everyone feel welcome. She has made Harrison Prep feel like home for many staff members and the school environment has become a family to whom she cares for and dedicates much of her time. Lisa is an exemplary leader that inspires staff members to build positive relationships with students and parents. She also inspires staff members and students to contribute positive behavior and values in school and in the community. Lisa is an inspirational administrator.
