Blue Light Coalition to hold candlelight vigil

The Pierce County Blue Light Coalition and South Sound Jaycees will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of fallen law enforcement officers on Thursday, May 13 at Lakewood City Hall - 6000 Main Street SW. The vigil, which takes place during National Police Week, will feature live coverage of events from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Pierce County Blue Light Coalition was formed after the November shootings of four Lakewood police officers. Its mission is to support healing in the community after tragic events. Vigil schedule:

  • 5:00 p.m. – Live broadcast from the National Memorial
  • 5:30 p.m. – Remarks from local officials
  • 6:00 p.m. – National Roll Call of Honor, lighting of candles

This event is open to the public. All participants will receive candles, and coffee will be provided by Forza Coffee Company. Other sponsors include Safe Streets, the Lakewood Police Department, Aaron’s Sales & Lease, Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park and Target.
