Anderson Island's Johnson Farm in running for grant
Posted on April 20, 2010From Sarah Garmire
The Anderson Island Historical Society's Johnson Farm is one of 25 Seattle - Puget Sound area organizations in the running for a grant totaling $1 million. We have asked for $67,000, which will go a long way toward keeping our museum's many antique farm buildings standing. This restoration grant is sponsored by American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Here's the twist: To win our grant, the general public has to vote. Voting happens online at www.partnersinpreservation.com. People can (and should) vote every day from now through May 12.
In addition, we are holding a gala open house on Saturday, May 1 at the farm. All are cordially invited to attend. We are celebrating our 35th year as a historical society, there will be a plant sale, live entertainment, special guests who helped form the society and free refreshments. This event is free and open to the public. There is more information on the Partners in Preservation website as well as our website (andersonislandhs.org).
