CPSD principal selections announced

Lakewood, WA -- Clover Park School District superintendent Debbie LeBeau recently announced the selection of three principals to fill vacancies at Idlewild and Hillside Elementary Schools and Lakeview Hope Academy. The principals will begin their assignments July 1, 2010, pending board approval on April 19.

Jim Pfeiffer will be the principal at Idlewild Elementary. Pfeiffer has more than 28 years of experience in the education field and is currently the principal of Mountain Shadows Elementary School in Surprise, Ariz. He has also served as a principal with Clover Park School District’s Tillicum Elementary School. Pfeiffer earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Puget Sound and master’s degrees from Leslie College and Central Washington University. He will replace Penny Melton, who is retiring at the end of the 2009-10 school year.

Michael Auton will serve as principal at Lakeview Hope Academy, replacing JoDee Owens who is retiring at the end of this school year as well. Auton is currently the principal at Grangeville Elementary/Middle School for the Mountain View School District in Grangeville, Idaho. He has more than 16 years of experience as an educator and has served as an assistant principal in the Eatonville and Prosser school districts and as a middle school teacher in Franklin Pierce School District. Auton earned his bachelor’s and his master’s degrees from Pacific Lutheran University.

At Hillside Elementary School on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, David Young will replace Harjeet Sandhu-Fuller, who recently announced her resignation. Young is currently the principal at Ray Kilmer Elementary School in the Lewis Palmer School District located in Castle Rock, Colo. He has more than 18 years of experience in education and has served as an assistant principal in the Douglas County School District in Colorado and has been an elementary teacher in self-contained and multi-age classroom settings. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and his master’s degree from the University of Colorado – Denver.

“We are very excited to welcome these administrators to Clover Park School District and know that Jim, Michael and David bring strong skills and enthusiasm to their new positions,” said LeBeau.
