Well, finally the Republican Party bosses and their casino allies get to fete their self-anointed candidate, Brian Wurts, at the perfect venue: a gambling house. How appropriate for the President of the Lakewood Police Independent Guild: the "black shirt" enforcers of the gambling status quo in Lakewood. After you've dropped your $25.00 entry fee at the door and shaken hands with Wurts "and other elected officials" you might as well drop a couple hundred more dollars at the gambling tables. It's for a good cause you know.

Just think of it. For every $100.00 you lose (and you will lose the longer you play), a whole $11.00 will go to the City of Lakewood in gambling tax to help the poor, downtrodden, penniless, less fortunate….or perhaps just less lucky…who have lost their money, self respect, family, and jobs due to a gambling addiction fueled by local casinos. Or maybe it’ll pay a police officer’s salary. We’re all for public safety aren’t we? The other $89.00? Oh that goes into the casino owner’s pockets somewhere else other than Lakewood. That’s a fair trade isn’t it?

Don’t gamble on Wurts: there are better places to spend your money and your vote.
