Support needed for CPSD Daffodil Float

Posted by Ben Sclair · March 16, 2010

The Clover Park School District (CPSD) Daffodil Float Committee is seeking financial support in creating this year’s Daffodil Float. Terese Tveten-High, a long-time Lakewood resident and CPSD employee, leads the committee of volunteers who create the float each year from scratch on a $2,000 budget. Last year’s float won the Grand Sweepstakes Award—the festival’s highest honor.

This year’s Festival theme is “Carousel of Spring.” The float will be ridden by students from Dower and Idlewild Elementary Schools—the elementary schools attended by this year’s Clover Park and Lakes High School princesses, respectively. The Grand Floral Parade travels through Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner and Orting on Saturday, April 10.

Festival rules require a float entry in order for students to participate in Daffodil activities, which include royalty, bands, cheer squads, drill and dance teams. The Clover Park community has been involved in the Festival for more than 45 years.

To donate to the CPSD Daffodil Float fund, or to volunteer your time to work on the float, contact Terese Tveten-High at 253-583-5042 or thigh@cloverpark.k12.wa.us.
