Help needed in Tillicum

Posted on March 14, 2010

A young Hispanic family in Tillicum needs your help. Their little one-year old has suffered significant brain damage and cries all the time – except when she is held, rocked, cuddled. Mom and dad are exhausted. Both work, and two older siblings attend school. The two children speak English. There also may be food and diaper needs, perhaps others as well as we become more familiar with this family. But the primary concern right now is for little one-year-old Kaylee to just be held.

We were made aware of this at 11 a.m., Sunday, March 14th, by a nurse who visits the home. The nurse reported that the family does not qualify for Ashley House because the dad works and then added, "You will likely never meet a more caring, close, loving set of parents. Their home is clean, comfortable, and warm. But they are prisoners of their culture, their trailer, and their situation. Please ask the people of Tillicum if they can help."

If you can assist in some aspect of coming alongside this family, please contact me, David Anderson, 253-988-2536.

There may be someone who would be willing to take oversight of this family and orchestrate child-care and other physical - and thus emotional - needs. Tillicum, and its broader support community, has always come through before. Tillicum Can.
