Letter: Soccer club looking for tournament sponsors

Posted by Ben Sclair · March 11, 2010

The Lakewood-Steilacoom-Dupont Soccer Club (LSDSC) will host its 5th annual Fort Steilacoom Cup 5v5 tournament on August 7th and 8th at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood. The 5v5 format is a wonderful opportunity for players to get more touches on the ball as there are only 4 players on the field at a time. Due to the short games, it is also a great opportunity for coaches to interact with their players and do a lot of teaching between matches. The 5v5 format is unique in these ways and this is the only tournament of its kind in Western Washington. This event draws youth teams from across the state and has been a huge success for us in the past. Participation in this event grows each year. For 2010 we expect more than 50 teams in the tournament and more than 1,000 guests over the course of the weekend. Given the success of previous tournaments, we are now comfortable in offering sponsorship opportunities.

In the past, the costs of putting on the tournament have been generated through team registration fees. However, current economic conditions have hit the teams hard as families are unable to help subsidize teams as they travel to tournaments. LSDSC has decided to ease the burden on teams by lowering registration fees. This can only be accomplished with the financial assistance from local businesses.

A contribution from your company or business will be of great benefit to the LSDSC youth by increasing tournament participation. The funds also help the club’s growth and reach in the community. Indirectly through tournament fees your donation will enhance the conditions of our fields and on site facilities. Funds raised by LSDSC are also used to purchase supplies, equipment and initiating soccer programs “camps” that improve club players. Although cash donations are always appreciated, gift certificates or merchandise serve as excellent options as well. In return for your generosity, your company name and gift will be acknowledged in our program under the list of sponsors.

One unique option we are looking at this year is to sell field sponsorships. We anticipate utilizing between 7 and 9 fields during the tournament. For a sponsorship level of $200, we will recognize your business in our tournament program, as well as display a sign marking your field with your name and business logo.

We’d like to thank you in advance for your generosity. All donations constitute a tax deduction, as we are part of the Tacoma Pierce County Junior Soccer Association, a non-profit organization (Tax ID # 510201933).

If you have any questions, please contact me at (253) 584-5129.

Sincerely,

Kris Baglio
Tournament Director
