BusinessFest returns to University Place

Posted on March 11, 2010

"Survivor UP" will be the theme for BusinessFest 2010 – the annual celebration of business in University Place. After taking a break during 2009 in recognition of the difficult economic climate, this gala event is returning to U.P. and this year it will be held at the Environmental Services Building from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2010. A light supper will be served.

BusinessFest 2010 is the premier business event in University Place. The event celebrates University Place as The Place for business and strengthens business fraternity in the City. It is a time for the business community to come together and celebrate past successes while looking forward to future opportunities. This year’s event will be the fifth BusinessFest held.

This year’s theme, “Survivor UP,” recognizes the current challenging business environment while celebrating business perseverance. The event’s speaker, Rand Simmons from the Washington State Library, will discuss ways that businesses can and must adjust to societal changes to be successful, using libraries as an example of successfully adapting to changing needs in our culture, while still providing a needed service.

Electronic invitations will go out to University Place business owners during the week of March 8. Cost of the event is $30 per person, and the registration deadline is Monday, March 22, 2010.

Sponsors for this year’s event include Narrows Plaza Bowl, University Place Refuse and Recycling, America’s Credit Union, Pierce County Public Works & Utilities, JK Tax Services LLC, the University Place/Fircrest Chamber of Commerce, Affairs Restaurant and Bakery, and Jonz Catering.

To register for BusinessFest, or to get more information about the event, contact Becky Metcalf in the City of University Place Economic Development Office, (253) 460-5442 or bmetcalf@CityofUP.com.
