Arnett Darryl

Darryl J. Arnett, born December 9, 1963, came to the end of his battle with an illness too soon on March 2, 2010, at age 46. He proudly worked for the City of Tacoma Solid Waste as a driver/collector for 20 years. He was a lifelong resident of the Puyallup/Tacoma area, and graduated from Lincoln High in 1982. Darryl enjoyed fishing, photography & the beautiful nature of the outdoors/sea life. He leaves behind his 3 children, Jessica (20), Justin (22), Josh (24), his father David & older brother, Dave, as well as many loving family & friends, including his beloved dog "Bo." In celebration of Darryl's life a memorial service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Garden Chapel on Saturday, March 13th at 11AM. Cordero Yong

Yong Suk Cordero, age 59, passed away on March 7th, 2010 with her loved ones by her side. Yong was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and came to the United States as a young woman. Yong was a loving, caring person and a beautiful soul. Yong did a wonderful job raising her sons as a single parent and was a very proud mother; Her boys and their accomplishments meant the world to her. Yong's father Bom Su Kim preceded her in death. She leaves behind her Mother Dong Sun Lee and her two sons Michael Kim and Dennis Bom Griswold. Her sisters Yong Ae Kim and Yong Kwang McCarty also survive her. Yong will be greatly missed by the Griswold Family, her many friends and those at the Korean Women's Association where she worked. Although she was taken too early from us, her family is comforted that her wishes were carried out, and she was able to give others the gift of life as an organ donor. Grant Brynolf Von Walter Born 12-6-21 in Tacoma to Karl and Mary Von Walter. Passed away 3-5-10, age 88. Grant went to Mary Lyon, Stewart, and Lincoln, graduating in 1940. He worked for Western Electric, served in the Signal Corp U.S. Army WWII, married Dorothy Holtcamp of Sedro-Woolley, Wa. 5-15-48. In 1952 he became an insurance agent, taking over his father's business. Grant is survived by his wife, Dorothy, son Phil (Shirley), daughter, Priscilla (Ron), grandchildren Sterling (Charla), and Cienna. Memorial service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 101 East 38th St. Tacoma, Wa. Remembrances may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran or a charity of your choice. Whinnery Carl

Carl R. Whinnery Age 86 years, born in Nebraska, died March 5, 2010 in Tacoma Washington. He was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry and parents Clarence and Hazel. Carl was a WWII veteran with the 20th Armored Division attached to the Army Band, and served in the ETO. He was a member of the Masonic Order and the Lakewood Elks. Carl was a Lakewood businessman and founder of Lakewood Cabinet Shop and Lakewood Countertops. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Betty, children: Cathy (Rick) Tunnell, Rich (Barb), Roger (Jenny), 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. White Lester

Lester G White was born in Decatur IA on 2/14/1918 and passed away 3/5/2010 in Tacoma WA at 92. He is survived by his wife Mary E White, his daughter Evelyn deFreitas (Dennis) and son Les White (Janice). Lester's 6 grandchildren: Connie Parchman, Carrie deFreitas, Matt White (Laura), Thomas White, Courtney Carrara (Brian Sielski) & Elizabeth Costanti (Stephen). Lester & Mary married in Worland WY in 1939 then moved to Vancouver WA in 1942 where Lester worked building liberty ships to support the war effort. After the war Lester worked for Crown Zellerbach for 38 years then retired in 1981 to their dream farm in Hot Springs AR. They spent 7 years working the farm & 10 years traveling in their motor home. Lester most enjoyed his time on their farm. Services will be held in the Mt View Celebration of Life Center on Monday March 15, at 2:00 PM.
