Discover the Docent Within

Posted by Ben Sclair · March 4, 2010

If you enjoy people and gardens, consider becoming a group tour docent at Lakewold Gardens. Our tour docents are ambassadors and teachers. This is an invitation to meet the seasoned docents of Lakewold and enjoy a roundtable discussion that will include their favorite stories about the gardens.

Lakewold’s annual “Docent Training” will be held at the gardens in the historic Wagner House on Saturday, March 20th from 10 am – 1 pm and a complimentary lunch will be provided for attendees. The training session will cover public speaking skills, Lakewold’s plant collection, and a discussion about the glacial age of the Lakes District. It is certain to be a fun and educational way to learn about Lakewold Gardens from the inside, while training to teach and tour the many varieties of groups that come to enjoy the gardens. Volunteering as a docent at Lakewold includes many perks such as annual trips to partner gardens, volunteer luncheons, and free admission to Lakewold events. For more information, or to RSVP, please contact Karen Robinson, Volunteer Coordinator, by phone at 253.584.4106 x106.

Lakewold Gardens is a ten acre, non-profit public garden located on Gravelly Lake at 12317 Gravelly Lake Drive SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. We are open year-round for tours; April – September, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. As winter hours vary, please call ahead 253.584.4106 or visit www.lakewoldgardens.org.
