Student panel featured at Champions for Youth Breakfast

Posted on February 24, 2010

A panel of Clover Park School District students, facilitated by assistant superintendent of public instruction Erin Jones and former Lakewood police chief Larry Saunders, will be featured at Communities in Schools of Lakewood's (CISL) annual Champions for Youth Breakfast on Wednesday, March 24.

With a theme of "On the Road to Success," guests at the breakfast will hear young people share their struggles and successes and get an insider's look at CISL's programs. In addition, CISL will recognize local "champions for youth," and obtain continued support for its efforts to support Lakewood youth. The breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at the Old Country Buffet in the Lakewood Towne Center.

A minimum donation of $50 is respectfully requested. All funds support CISL After-School Programs, Readiness to Learn and Champions Mentor Programs, which provide assistance to Clover Park School District students and their families. Corporate sponsorships and tables are also available.

CISL works closely with Lakewood’s Promise (part of America’s Promise) to ensure that Lakewood’s young people reach their full potential.

“By working together—schools, parents and communities—we can help students be successful.” said Dave O’Keeffe, CISL executive director. “Schools can’t do it alone. The Champions for Youth Breakfast helps us continue the important work of helping children succeed and stay in school.”

To make reservations or for more information, contact Christina Klas at the CISL office, (253) 589-7489.
