Tillie’s – Not Your Regular Dinner Show

Lining up for a delicious dinner

Lining up for a delicious dinner

If you weren’t there on February 11, you missed a wonderful show! The Tillie’s Team, again, far exceeded expectations. Shawn, the sound and lighting guy, brought his own $3,000 sound board and wore a tux, believe it or not! He felt his role as Master of Ceremonies was that important and he did not disappoint. He kept everyone entertained and his announcements kept things moving smoothly before the headliner appeared. Shawn recruited two teens who ran the spot lights, house lights and opened the red curtain at the dramatic moment. He introduced Garret “Light My Fire” Smith, standing behind the curtain, with the song used at basketball warmups, “Are You Ready for This?” The spot lights were flashing, moving around the curtain as it was drawn open…really awesome! The food was delicious and abundant, food service was excellent, and cake was served after dinner. The room was romantic and hot, with spring blossoming branches, red berry branches and ornaments, and fire hats on every table. Huge red and blue helium balloons lined the walls.

Garret was totally off-the-wall, very funny and entertaining. His day job is at the fire department as a paramedic and he teaches first aid at the CERT classes. He performed at Gertie’s in Tillicum on Feb 5th also. Lakewood has some great local talent. We are looking for other performers for future Tillie’s dinner shows. We are also lining up performers for our Tillicum Centennial, August 14, 2010.

Don’t miss next month’s dinner show, the Rockin’ Relics are performing. The January show was canceled due to an illness in the band, but everyone is ready to rock now. Many of their songs are classics from the fifties, so if you have a poodle skirt, skinny jeans, a suit with a skinny tie, or a cocktail dress with hat, wear it!! Be prepared to dance – you won’t be able to sit still when they start rockin’ out!

I don’t know where/what Tillie’s is. Please explain to this ol’ stick in the mud.

Tillies is our name for our monthly dinner show at Tillicum Elementary School. For one night each month, it becomes our dinner/dance/show club to benefit the Tillicum Centennial, August 14, 2010. Tillicum is in Lakewood, take the I-5 exit for Thorne Lane.

Sorry Irene. Tillie’s is short for Tillicum. The 2nd Thursday of each month, generally, Tillicum hosts a dinner entertainment program at Tillicum Elementary School, by which to raise money for our 100th birtday celebration on August 14 this year. For more information you can contact me personally, David Anderson, 988-2536, billsboathouse@qwestoffice.net.
