In April of 2005 I was lucky enough to meet Elizabeth Poinsett while filming a show about Lakewood
for our TV series, My Home Town. We took Elizabeth on her very first visit to Mann Middle
School - named of course, for her mother. She sat with the big formal portrait of Iva Alice Mann and
held that audience of young people absolutely mesmerized as she shared memories of her Mother and
why the school would have been so important to her. The students rewarded her with a huge ovation. My favorite memory though was of this beautiful lady in the technology lab with earphones on, working at the computer though with the other kids. An Unforgettable experience.
