Tax help at Milgard Hope Center
Posted by · February 7, 2010Trained and IRS-certified volunteers are providing free tax preparation and e-file services on Mondays and Thursdays, 4pm-7pm through April 15 at the Gary and Carol Milgard Family HOPE Center, 10402 Kline St SW in Lakewood. The goal of this service is to help low- and moderate-income families and individuals claim all the tax credits they are eligible to receive. This year the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit were expanded and the education credit, the American Opportunity Credit, was broadened. Residents of Lakewood and neighboring communities can utilize this service on a walk-in basis. More information about free tax preparation sites all around Pierce County, and what to bring to complete your tax return can be found at www.piercecountyabc.org or by calling 2-1-1. Also on the website and on the Pierce County Library System Tax Time webpage is a link for a free and secure online service, I CAN! e-file, for those who choose to prepare and e-file their own returns.
