So, what's going to happen to the Town of Steilacoom Department of Public Safety and their Volunteer Firefighters? It is widely known that the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) union pursues an active policy of impairing volunteer firefighters in the Western United States (Volunteerism is presently encouraged by East Coast Fire Departments). "Every volunteer firefighter is obstructing the establishment of a Professional Career Union member". And increased membership numbers equals power.
What's going to happen when DuPont falls to "West Pierce Fire & Rescue"? Who'll be there to respond mutual aid? North Fort Lewis I guess. UP Fire has been a stable long time mutual aid partner to Steilacoom. It's getting lonely out here.

Weren't the UP and Lakewood Fire Districts merged before and then broke up? I seem to recall that at least the Lakewood was merged previously with another department and it ended up not working out so well. Not so sure this is a great idea.
